William (Bill) Templin

Bill Templin is an Environmental Scientist with the California Department of Water Resources after his transfer from a similar position with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board in April 2009.

Bill is a native Californian, raised in the Central Valley of California (Tulare) until he went away to college.

He graduated from Humboldt State University in 1973 with a B.S. in Natural Resources.

In 1974 he began a career with the U.S. Geological Survey, as a Hydrologist.

Bill received a Masters in Public Administration (with a minor in Water Resource Engineering) from Sacramento State University in 1992.

Bill remained with the USGS until he retired in July 2003. After retiring from the USGS, Bill did some water resources consulting on his own before he was selected as the Watershed Coordinator for the North Fork American River Watershed. He held that position from June 2004 until October 2007, when he began his career with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board.

Bill has been an Environmental Scientist with the California Department of Water Resources since April 2009. For 1.5 years before this position Bill held a similar position with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, a position he accepted after his 3.5 year grant ran out as the Watershed Coordinator for the American River Watershed Group.

Bill is actively involved as a Board Member on a number of non-profit watershed and sportsmen’s organizations in the Sacramento and Fresno areas.
